Happy New Year! Are your resolutions selfish?
As we head into the new year it is normal and natural – even expected – that we will be flooded with blogs, invitations, and recommendations on how we can be more successful and achieve our goals like we never have before! It can all be just a bit exhausting. While there is nothing wrong with achieving goals and being successful – certainly – I am taking this opportunity to challenge myself (and you as well) to a higher standard.
What if we did not focus on how much weight we can lose, how much money we can make, what promotion we can get, how many miles we can run – or anything else that is focused on us. What if we did not focus on “me” at all – but instead focused on “we?” What if we set our sights this year on how we can benefit someone else? What goal can you establish that will purely benefit others or your community? What effort could you focus on daily, weekly or even once a month that was purely dedicated to giving back or paying forward? What if we focused on being significant this year, beyond just being successful.
That’s what I’m gonna do – and I would gamble to say that if we focus on THAT, success will follow naturally as well.
